I never thought I would be the kind of person who enjoys talking about “self-love.” Before I became a high-performance coach I didn’t place very much importance on the idea of a positive relationship with self—in fact, I didn’t even know what a relationship with self was.
Now I understand that our relationship with ourselves is the most important one we will ever have.
To me, self-love begins with tuning into that relationship. So often it’s about judging and rejecting ourselves. We focus on our supposed flaws and inadequacies.
Self-love is giving ourselves the benefit of taking the time to question that way of thinking and shift to being “for” yourself in the most fundamental sense. Be on your own side. It’s incredible how much power we have to go against that.
Being on your own side is a core ingredient for feeling good about yourself. When you feel good about yourself you will make better choices and you will get better results in all areas of your life.
