If your self saboteur has been cracking the whip and you’ve been using it as your strategy for success you may be reluctant to let it go. After all, it motivates you to go after excellent work. Or has it? Yes, your inner critic motivates you to do the perfect work—to cross all the t’s and dot all the i’s. However, it doesn’t motivate you towards the intelligent risks of speaking your truth and going after real fulfillment.
This is why tracking down the motives of the inner critic voice in your head is crucial to your success. When you’re pushing a growth edge you must be aware of the internal chatter and call it out for what it is (your safety instinct trying to protect you from risk). This helps us separate from the chatter and find our grounding in what we know to be true about ourselves so we can really go for it.
