In our strive for excellence many of us confuse well-being with perfection. We almost never live up to our big expectations for diet and exercise. This is where we get into periods of exercising intensely, starving ourselves or going on a crash diet. Inevitably we end up “blowing it” and binging because we need relief from our internal experience of perfectionism and not feeling good enough. We create a negative cycle of overeating, judging and punishing ourselves for it, soothing with food and so on. Many of us spend most of our lives in this cycle with varying intensity.
In high performance health we go after a higher quality strategy that recognizes the middle way as the sustainable approach.
