Now that we’ve covered how to find and get into your flow state, it’s time to chat about what takes you out it.
One of the quickest ways to lose your flow is by getting trapped up in your monkey mind. When you get attached to your thoughts, fixating on worries about the future or regrets from the past, you are no longer in the present moment, which is where you need to be access your flow state.
To stay in your flow, practice mindfulness by focusing on the here and now – the more engaged you are with the task at hand, the easier time you’ll have accessing your flow state.
When first learning how to gain and maintain your flow state, practice noticing where you lose it and noting why? What monkey mind thoughts are pulling you away?
See if you can drop down into the body via your breath, which will ground you back into the here and now, and will help you get back into flow quickly.
Like everything we brain train you on in The Mental Gym, the more you practice, the better you will become.
