Happy Monday,
I was meeting with a client today who was extremely disappointed in himself for a recent setback in his goal-setting and getting journey.
He had been doing an incredible job throughout the last few months since beginning his journey with me. His motivation had been quite strong since day one due to his deeply meaningful why factor (see previous MoMonday videos on ‘The Why Factor‘).
Then all of a sudden, out of nowhere, he experienced a major set back. And let me tell you, he was really upset with himself.
His negative self talk was a clear indicator that this setback was doing more harm than good to his mindset. I quickly stepped in and broke his pattern of thinking, telling him we’d worked too hard on his mindset the last couple of months to let this one setback do so much damage.
In today’s MoMonday Video: How to Turn Setbacks into Success (click here to watch), I’ll share with you my tips on how I coached my client to use the pain he was experiencing due to his recent setback, and transform it into motivational fuel for his goal-setting and getting journey.
Remember, there is no such thing as failure, only feedback. And even the painful moments can be used to support further growth and stronger levels of motivation.
The key is in your mindset and how you choose to view the pain. Associate those painful feelings (disappointment, frustration, anger) to the self-sabatoging decisions that lead you to that result and you will motivate your brain not to make those decisions again.
The result? You will turn every setback into support leading you to the successful outcomes you crave.
Until next time, make every performance count!
