How do you work?…
I asked a client this very important question this week, in an attempt to identify her working strategy. We all have a way in which we approach work, and for most of us, it includes some level of stress.
This day in age, we all seem to wear our stress as a badge of honour. “Look how busy and stressed and over-booked I am.” We associate stress with our level of importance.
We also use stress as a motivational strategy. “The more stressed I am, the more I get done.” Sure it gets our adrenaline pumping in the short-term, which can feel like a boost in our energy, but in today’s ‘MoMonday Video: How Do You Work (click here to watch),’ I show you how working in a stressed out state is actually an extremely low-quality state to work in.
While it may feel like a more productive state because your blood is pumping and your heart is racing, what’s happening beneath the surface is a totally different story. You may be racing a million miles per hour but it’s taking you ten times longer to accomplish anything.
I call it quick sand in the brain-you have difficulty making connections, problem solving and even thinking creatively when stressed.
Bottom line…your results plummet when stressed.
